The aviation sector is under pressure to decarbonize quickly. Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), derived from clean hydrogen and biogenic CO2, are poised to play a pivotal role in this transition. With rapid scale-up and significant cost reductions, SAF could conquer the $50 billion annual jet fuel market.

Aviation contributes between 9 to 12 percent of total U.S. transportation-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as reported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Without intervention, these emissions could soar, especially with jet fuel demand expected to double by 2050. While more efficient operation and next-generation aircraft can reduce aviation’s carbon intensity, SAF represents the most substantial opportunity for the industry to slash GHG emissions.

However, several significant challenges hinder the widespread adoption of SAF, including its higher cost compared to fossil-based jet fuel, challenges in securing sufficient feedstocks, and fluctuating tax incentives.

Join this webinar to explore both the opportunities and challenges of decarbonizing aviation through SAF.

In this webinar, you will:

  • Dive into the economics of SAF, examining current production costs, key cost drivers, and the price tipping points that make SAF attractive to airlines
  • Learn how to qualify for the SAF tax credit of up to $1.75 per gallon under Section 40B of the Inflation Reduction Act
  • Find out how much clean hydrogen is needed to meet the Department of Energy’s SAF Grand Challenge target of producing 35 billion gallons by 2050
  • Explore the availability of CO2 from sustainable biogenic sources and direct air capture (DAC) in the United States for SAF production.

Companies in the SAF sector are set to become major offtakers of clean hydrogen. Participate in this webinar to learn how your clean hydrogen business can engage in and benefit from the growth of SAF.
