Biomethane is off to a good start in Italy with 85 operating plants throughout the country. And there could soon be many more thanks to the recent Biomethane Decree, which has earmarked 1.73 billion EUR to support new biomethane production plants and the upgrade of biogas plants to biomethane. By 2026, if these incentives are fully applied, Italy could produce four times more biomethane than in 2023.

Should these goals be realized, Italy would become one of the largest biomethane producers in Europe, a region that could cover up to 50% of its gas demand with biomethane by 2050. This is just the beginning. Given the drive for energy security after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many analysts expect that the European Union will continue enacting laws and providing financial support to boost the production of biomethane in high potential markets, such as Italy.

Stay ahead of the curve and explore why biomethane is not just the future, but also the here and now. Join this webinar to learn from industry pioneers who have navigated the complexities of biomethane production.

  • Explore Italy’s journey to realizing its full potential as a leading biomethane producer
