In a groundbreaking move, the European Commission gave the green light last June to not one, but two game-changing delegated acts. These acts lay the foundation for unleashing the true power of renewable hydrogen (H2) in Europe.

The first act defines the conditions under which hydrogen, hydrogen-based fuels, and other energy carriers can attain the prestigious status of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs). The second act introduces a cutting-edge methodology for calculating the life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions associated with RFNBOs.

But here’s where it gets intriguing: These acts are just one piece of the larger puzzle. They’re part of an expansive EU regulatory framework that encompasses vital aspects like energy infrastructure investments and state aid rules. Plus, they’re in sync with legislative targets aimed at fostering the growth of renewable hydrogen in key sectors, such as industry and transport.

Yet, the hydrogen industry isn’t without its mysteries. Questions loom about the certification of origin and how these rules will be harmonized globally. While they apply both within the EU and to international producers exporting to Europe, the real challenge lies in ensuring a level playing field for hydrogen production beyond EU borders.

Join this webinar to get an insider’s view on the impact of the EC’s Delegated Acts on the renewable hydrogen industry.. Here’s what we’ll dive into:

  • Understand how the temporal and geographical correlation principles will be applied locally and internationally
  • Delve deep into the concept of additionality, and how it impacts renewable hydrogen costs in Europe.
  • Discover how international H2 producers eyeing the European market can capitalize on the market conditions created by the Delegated Acts
  • Brace yourselves for a comprehensive exploration of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II); and its role in shaping the future of nuclear energy-based hydrogen.
  • Ready to embark on this journey? Register now and be part of the conversation that’s reshaping Europe’s hydrogen landscape.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Maximiliam Boemke, Partner, Watson Farley & Williams
  • John Williams, Director / Head of Hydrogen, AFRY
  • Belén Gallego, CEO, RENMAD – Energy Events by ATA Insights (Moderator)
