Storage has a new ingredient, and it’s the most common thing on the table: salt. In 2026 the sodium battery jumped from the lab bench to the grid — and it isn’t here to knock lithium off its perch, just to claim a seat of its own. The calling card is hard to argue with: a material up to 500 times more abundant, no cobalt, no nickel, cells already brushing cost parity with LFP and on track to get cheaper still in 2027.

But sodium isn’t bought, built or run the same way. No thermal runaway. Happy with passive cooling — up to 90% off the cooling bill. It shrugs off punishing climates and racks up far more cycles. And that’s where it gets interesting: once you can cycle harder for less, even how you buy and sell energy starts to shift. So does revenue stacking pay off better with sodium? Depends where you put it — and that’s the whole point of this session.

We’re getting three people in one room who rarely agree on anything — the manufacturer, the developer already putting steel in the ground, and the consultant who runs the numbers — to help you take every sodium claim with exactly the right pinch of salt:

  • Find out where sodium shines and where lithium still owns the room, and why it’s a different design animal (density, footprint, thermal management) — so you spec the right chemistry for each project and stop paying for performance you’ll never use
  • See how building and running sodium actually differs — passive cooling, no thermal runaway, a wide temperature window, many more cycles — and where that lands on your safety CAPEX, your cooling OPEX and the asset’s working life
  • Learn how you bankroll a technology with no ten-year track record — manufacturer warranties, insurance, strategic capital — and which structure gets your first sodium project financed before your competition figures it out
  • Discover how sodium changes the buy-and-sell game: as the cost per cycle falls you can cycle harder and salt away more revenue — plus when revenue stacking genuinely earns its keep (and when it doesn’t)
